Message	I mentioned in a reply that I couldn't understand how it was so violent. My only hypothesis is that the "thud" I heard was coincidence and that it had been flat for a longer amount of time. The process went THUD, then 10 seconds later WHAP WHAP and I pulled over. I pulled over AS SOON as I heard the whapping (thinking my wing came loose as it sounded similar).
